Hi, I’m Cassie and welcome to my kitchen!
I’m a 40-something neurodivergent non-binary person who loves to cook. I’m not necessarily very good at it, but I really enjoy it.
What you won’t find here is my life story before every recipe. You’ll get the recipe and my thoughts on it. I’m a beginner photographer and keep forgetting to take photos (there’s probably a blog post somewhere about that too LOL) so you won’t find amazing food photography – and I’m also not about to let the food go cold while I get the perfect instagrammable picture.
What you will find here is me posting about making some of my favourite recipes – what goes well and what I like about them, but also what goes wrong (because something nearly always does, and I like to be real about these things).
My fiancée Li loves to bake so there will probably be some guest posts from her when she’s been making tasty sweet treats.
I also enjoy watching people cooking things on TV so I’ll be writing posts where I ramble, enthuse, grumble and love shows such as Masterchef and Great British Bake Off. I follow some fun food-related content creators on social media so may even write about the things I love seeing them do.
I’ve mentioned that I’m neurodivergent because it affects my relationship with food. My ADHD means I’m not great at remembering to eat, and my autism means I have some sensory issues, especially regarding texture. And we’ll throw in a super fun food allergy to capsaicin which is just awesome. So there’ll be posts about meal planning, strategies I use to remember to eat, dealing with things going wrong, replacements I make in meals etc.
Basically, it’s going to be all about the food I love – and me loving it! So pull up a chair at the table, there’s plenty of food to go round and I hope you enjoy it.
